Back to School activity ideas
Today is my kids first day of school!
It's Back To School frenzy around here!

I've been thinking a lot...I really wanted a way to drive home the idea of keeping Christ with my kids throughout the school day. The school halls can be scary! Our kids have to be prepared for the moral challenges that will certainly come. I decided to come up with a Back To School activity idea that also incorporates "Come Unto Christ."
I started thinking about common questions the kids ask each other at the beginning of a new school year and played off those with answers that center around Christ. I have 3 questions. For each question there is an activity and a spiritual mini-lesson. The details are attached in a PDF (download above) but here is the basic idea:
Question #1
"Who Is Your Locker Partner?"
Activity: Magnet Picture of Jesus Christ for their lockers
Spiritual Thought: Talk about how keeping a picture of Christ in the YW's lockers can keep their thoughts and actions focused on the Savior and His Teachings. (full mini lesson in PDF)
This is the easiest craft on the planet! Buy some pass along cards here ($2 for 100!) or at the distribution center. Buy some magnetic tape at WalMart or an office supply store. Cut two strips for each girl. She can place them on the back of the pass along card and "voila!" She has a magnet for her locker!
Question #2
"What teachers do you have?" (that question is not grammatically correct but lets go with it :)
Activity: Prayer Rock
Spiritual Thought: Talk about how Jesus Christ is our true teacher and this life is our greatest test. We can use prayer to receive personal revelation from our Savior (full mini lesson in PDF )
Have the girls make a prayer rock.
Question #3
"Will You Eat With Me At Lunch?"
Activity: Scripture Bookmarks
Spiritual Thought: "Feast" on the words of Christ. (full mini lesson in PDF)
Bookmark Idea Here and Here
Both are easy and super cute. Bring a glue gun and make your life easier. On the second bookmark from Crafty Endeavors I think I would have the girls hand sew the button to the ribbon (that passes off Personal Progress anyway ;) and glue gun the rest. I'm not sure the glued on button would hold!?!?
I hope this activity will center your YW on Christ as they start this new school year. :)
